The Hombli Smart Smoke Detector is compliant with the European standard EN14604. There are two different types of smoke detectors in general use: ionization and photoelectric. Ionized smoke detectors are banned in some EU countries (Germany, France and more). The Hombli Smart Smoke Detector is of the photoelectric type.

The Smoke Detector will automatically test the sensor and batteries every week. You can turn off the alarm in the Hombli app, but you cannot active the alarm from your phone. To save battery, the Smart Smoke Detectors only sends out signals if smoke is detected or during a manual test. The product will be on standby mode until the alarm is triggered.

According to the EU standard EN14604, you can only silence a smoke alarm temporarily. If experience problems with the smoke alarm going off unnecessarily, try the following:

1. Clean the Smart Smoke Detector with a vacuum cleaner with the brush nozzle.
2. Move the Smart Smoke Detector to a different location, further away from the areas with high humidity or cooking fumes (kitchen, bathroom)
3. Turn the device off by pressing the button for 15 seconds. Turn it on again by pressing the button 5 seconds.

When the alarm of the Smart Smoke Detector goes off, first make sure that you know the cause. In case of a fire, get yourself and others safely outside and call the emergency number. If you have made sure that you, and other members of the household are not in danger, turn off the alarm via the Hombli app or by pushing the button on the device once.
